VI La Salle Summer Program
Rome, Italy - 2017
One thing is certain; you can’t measure yet the chance that you are having of being part of this seminar. Do the best you can in this program, because it’s a rich time sharing. This seminar was for me a moment for reflection about my future. The question that I used to ask myself during these two weeks is: in service of which cause I will dedicate my life and my engagements?
The reflections conducted during the conference are important, deep and even spiritual sometimes.
The program will broaden you understanding of very different cultures. Cultures you think that you may understand as be aware of are much more complex than you think. Furthermore you will be taught about leadership, ethics, and Lasallian values. Despite our lack of understanding or preconceptions La Salle is the same all over the world, we do not need a common language or culture because we have a common set of values that transcend our differences. We are to treat all people with compassion and dignity; we have a human connection in La Salle. To discover that connection in this conference is a substantial part of your college career.
I invite you to take the necessary time to meet everybody and put yourself in their places and show solidarity to their preoccupations and interests.
Live the Lasallism, dear friend, and even more, make the difference!
To be part of the LGU Program is an excellent opportunity to any young student. From the contact with students from different places, we learn how to respect our differences and to comprehend the feelings of others. Besides that, we realize how similar we are, although we have different cultures and live in distant places. The workshops make it possible a better understanding of the concept and practice of leadership and global questions, besides that it promotes a bigger integration among the students.
These are two intensive weeks, with a lot of projects to be done. But it provides us a better knowledge about ourselves, because we have the opportunity of living situations that challenge us and show us that we are capable of going beyond our expectations.
